Anytime I need inspiration for my own playing, all I have to do is watch this concert and it helps me hit the reset button. I’m so grateful to have lived in a time when Allan Holdsworth’s music came into being, developed, and became available on demand.

dude, fucking respect to the singer Paul Williams for keeping his voice during Allan's other-worldly harmonic voyages

Chad Wackerman was a killer drummer, so technical. Very active style, love his fills.

Met him at The Baked Potato. His left hand was cramping during the set. I asked him about it during the break and he said he was working out a line or technique before the show. He signed my Guitar School magazine with City Nights transcribed--"Thanks for the support". Such talent and indifference to convention! Yet, he was approachable and humble during our brief conversation. The experience was like a dream.

Allan The one and only. Jimmy Johnson deserves more recognition than the 90% of the most famous fusion bassists.

Sometimes, in the blizzard of incredible notes coming from Allans guitar, it's easy to overlook the utterly brilliant bass playing and drumming - this is one of the best live shows ever recorded, period.

50 years from now Berkeley School of Music will have a 400 level course for guitarists to try and dissect the playing from this show. What an alien.

In memory of my buddy Brent, who turned me on to this.
RIP Old Friend.

I'm floored by how melodic he seems even when he's so far outside of the basic chord structure.

Phenomenal for a chap who was purportedly rarely satisfied with anything he played. We won't ever see the likes of him again. It's too bad that he flew right over most peoples' heads. No one served the privilege of music better.

As much credit as Allan gets, he really doesn't get enough credit!

It cannot be understated how amazing the singer is to compliment and enhance Alans crazy music and be the only one to really do it well. Historic album for his work

I´m kind of ashamed that I´ve never heard of Allan before. His playing and music are amazing!! Enjoyed it very much. This time, I have to thank to the youtube algorithm.

Holdsworth, Johnson and Wackerman = magical mayhem. I know this stuff can be a lot to process for some, but if you just let it in, it is soooo mesmerizing. RIP Allan.

Everytime I start to get self-satisfied with my guitar playing, I listen to some Holdsworth.
It's kept me humble for decades now.
His playing is truly on a different evolutionary level; a higher plane of musical existence.
Rest In Power, maestro.

Allan is so perfectly locked into what he's doing, it gently starts swooping you away toward a different realm. You have to give it time, but if you listen intently, you'll get lost and forget where you took off, then you come back and notice your heart hasn't missed a beat. Perfect relaxation, ultimate ease. The trick is to not think, to let him do the playing. Face it like the wind coming to pick you up. If you must understand everything, think of going back sometime later, but don't miss the experience. If you do it correctly, you may never come back and be the same.

Paul was the only man on Earth who could touch Allan's guitar while he was playing. Still don't know how he managed to sell that to Allan. A whole lot of Pints is my guess!

For me, Allan's best show ever recorded

Allan's approach to scales and his perfection when executing them, makes him unique and absolutely fantastic. For me personally, alongside John Coltrane, Allan presented us with the best music possible. His work is memorable and for me he, in fact, is at the top.

Literally this is the perfect band, nothing could sound better. Grand masters of their instruments.
