Mouse filmed tidying up man's shed every night

Retired postman Rodney Holbrook, 75, captured footage of a mouse tidying up his workbench after dark.

Over a couple of months, he noticed that the things he used during the day were being mysteriously put away at night, so he set up a night-vision camera in his shed in Builth Wells, Powys, Wales, to find out what was happening. He discovered that an industrious mouse was picking up items such as nuts and bolts, clothes pegs and cable ties and tidying them away into a box.

This is so cute. We had one too in an old antique wood stove in the unused garage. It had two drawers. In the bottom one, she built a nest complete with babies, with batting she pulled out of my sleeping bag. In the top one, she had filled it full of treasures she collected. The amazing thing was that you could see the treasures, bits and pieces of odd things like marbles, hair scrunchies, paper clips, one earring, a safety pin, a plastic spoon, etc., were basically sorted according to size! I was organizing and decluttering my own house, so when I saw what she had done, I marveled at her intelligence. We are so similar! I couldn't help but love her, so we left her stove untouched. And when we sold the house later, we arranged that her stove should stay put and her life be respected there.

Too cute. My rat used to clean her own cage. I'd pop in a tub, she'd pop all the waste in, boom - teamwork is dream work. Miss her still 20 years later. She smelled like bubblegum. Absolute darling so she was ❤

I caught a mouse in a humane mouse trap, and gave her a three storey mouse condo with a secondary cage attached. I had her for years. She was the smartest, sweetest, gentlest little creature and when she died it hit me like a gut-punch. She was a minute creature that taught me one of the greatest lessons of my life - that every little sentient being is of infinite value.
