I loved my S5 people kept on hating it because it looked like a plaster but it was mega durable

I'd take a carbon fiber back and a gorilla glass front

I wish any manufacturer would make a new Lumia 920 with polycarbon body... I really loved the feeling!

Had the One M8. Solid phone way ahead of its time.

Why is this a thing and why do I know exactly what it means?

Glass backs are more premium until they drop

I will never understand why people care so much for a design they're going to put a case over anyway

Its true, the build quality has increased.

I still like the older phones, because the new one's are too big, fragile and almost all look exactly the same.

You should have added the essential ph1 to the timeline because it was the first with a notch and had the largest screen to body ratio at the time

Glass and metal will never feel as premium to me as straight metal. Sure, you don't get wireless charging, but it feels a lot better in my opinion and is nowhere near as fragile.

The HTC M7 and M8 were a looker. They looked gorgeous and premium even today

Most people end putting their phone in a case. So really it doesn't matter what materials they are made of.

I prefer removable backs, I've head a lot of phones with plastic backs but i don't really care because i always put cases on my phones anyway. Also the common glass that most companies use is just so uncomfortable to use. It gets smuged up, it gets sticky when your hands start sweating when the phone starts warming up and so on. The glass Apple uses on the 11 Pro is the best one in my opinion.

I miss metal backs like the one m8. I understand moving to glass for wireless charging, but if a phone doesn't have wireless charging I'd prefer metal over glass any day. Plus glass phones tend to all look and feel all the same, whereas metal seemed to inspire more creativity.

I worked in a phone store when the Galaxy s6 came out and people went mad for it - such a great step up for Samsung!

The only thing I miss about the phones of the past is their fit and size. Manufacturers today have to take into account the size of their modern phones. Apple's iPhone X, Xs, 11 (not the pros), Samsung s9, s10e, s10 are actually (arguably) some of the good sized flagships out there.

Ah the plastic era of build quality. Good times

I think we all should care more about durability and easy serviceability like we see in the Fairphone 3 tbh

I mean, why use glass and other expensive materials in a phone when it's going to be replaced after two years or less? This is what needs to be tackled in the industry now.

Plastic backs are more crack/break- proof than glass ones
I'm using a metal G5 Plus. That's cool too (I use a plastic back case)
