How to Use a Pulse Oximeter?
Показать описание
How to use a Pulse Oximeter by Stefani from the Oxygen Concentrator Store.
✅ What is a Pulse Oximeter?
The pulse oximeter can measure two things: your pulse rate and the level of oxygen in your blood. Both of these numbers are necessary to assess your current levels and health.
🩸 What is the Normal Blood Oxygen Level?
People who are breathing normal, who have relatively healthy lungs (or asthma that is under control), will have a blood oxygen level of 95% to 100%. Anything between 92% and 88%, is still considered safe and average for someone with moderate to severe COPD. Below 88% becomes dangerous, and when it dips to 84% or below, it’s time to go to the hospital. Around 80% and lower is dangerous for your vital organs, so you should be treated right away.
🦠 Is Pulse Oximeter useful during the Coronavirus pandemic?
One of the effects of COVID-19 is lower blood oxygen saturation. Keeping an oximeter handy can be really helpful as it tells you what your oxygen saturation level is.
🔬 Can finger pulse oximeter detect COVID-19?
Just like a thermometer tells you what your body temperature is and not what disease you have, a pulse oximeter tells you what your SpO2% (oxygen saturation%) is and not whether you have Coronavirus. Low blood oxygen saturation can also occur due to COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).
