Correct pronounciation is Subaaru as per the Japanese. Subaroo is American and seems to have been adopted en mass recently by most countries. These are increadibly underrated cars. They are not flashy which is a problem for most SA drivers who like to show off. They are also expensive compared in other markets. Once you have driven one for a while you dont want to drive anything else as they are so sure footed. Its also the only really capable "offroader" in this class.

The 2.5 is the way to go. Shame they dropped the 2.0 XT, it was flippin fast.

In Canada we only get the 2.5. Sport trim in Canada costs $35, 795 (R420 000)

I have a Gen 2 2.5 normally aspirated and recently got a Gen 4 XT and I am battling to let go of my Gen 2 as it just such an honest like you said 'authentic' vehicle. Probably not worth much anymore but it will take me anywhere (on or off-road) without blinking. Love the power of the 2.0 turbo though!

I've watched many reviews of the Forester Sport worldwide and this car just grew on me. Especially this Sport derivative. Yes, I like the character of this vehicle. Honesty with no thrills or spills. Would have really liked if the Sport derivative was more affordable.

Issue is always the price. But this is definitely a step up in looks compared to older models

doesn't sell fast until its actually driven... then you hooked. we have the 2004 forester XT and boy are they amazing cars... don't buy 2nd hand if you don't plan to have a mechanic go out and inspect everything for you. they never been great looking cars, but they grow beautifully on you. Subaru forever!!!

That kind of model is not high performance in terms of power. I'd recommend Subie fans to stick to the older version of subies before the face-lift. Those ones have power.
