Written by Charley Crockett
Lyrics:
I'm from San Benito, Texas
Down a dirty dusty road
There was sugarcane and cotton
How I used to watch it grow
Then we moved up to Dallas

I remember I was young
I learned about the dollar
Looked down the barrel of a gun

If you ask me where I'm going
I can't tell ya 'cause I don't know
But in my mind I see the valley
You should see the way it glows

My daddy didn't know me
My brother rolled the dice
My mama kept on working
And my sister paid a price

Darkness did surround me
Trouble everywhere I turned
Then one day I started walking
Everything I've got, I earned

If you ask me where I'm going
I can't tell ya 'cause I don't know
But in my mind I see the valley
You should see the way it glows

Now you know my story
I bet you got one like it too
May your curse become a blessing
There ain't nothing else to do

I heard a couple of Charley's songs here on Youtube and figured I'd buy one of his CDs. I bought the album entitled "The Valley" with this song on it. It was a great purchase. Thank you Youtube for exposing me to this wonderful artist. Thank you Charley Crockett for making great music. To any who are on the fence about purchasing this CD, trust me, you won't regret it. It is absolutely awesome and worth every penny.

My grandfather was from San Benito Texas. He was born in a house with dirt floors, he always told me. There definitely isn’t any mountains in San Benito. God bless.

Born and raised in San Benito TX. I even opened up for Freddy Fender and The Texas Tornadoes. Then moved to Denton TX just North of Dallas and almost got signed. Talent is everywhere and grateful to discover yours.

I love every track Charley Crockett makes. I cant explain how much it all means to me. When I was in the lowest place I had ever been dreams of playing like this kept me alive when I wanted to give up. It means so much to me to see someone doing it just like saw it in my heart.
