do we need to copy the other half? why not cut it into 2 separate section?

Selecting the line with the direct selection tool did not delete the line. Please help, what should I do?

Faster would be use of this circular grid tool instead offseting circle(use arrows to change circle count)

Thanks. I tried it out. After joining the circles, and deleting the horizontal connecting lines, the semi-circles are still not connected. So the Cmd+J command does not do anything. Maybe I am missing something!
