When he first walks into the scene, his trademark drool from his mouth is missing. He is actually sober for once, and is feeling the pain he normally numbs with his substance abuse.

I miss dark moments like this in Rick and Morty. Theses moments gave more depth to Rick and made him relatable.

This scene tugs at every persons heartstrings because one of the most unifying parts of humanity is having lost love. The pain feels so horrible that it seems like death is the only relief. Rick always plays this badass heartless invincible genius but here you see that he's extremely depressed and willing to die by his own hand. Quite the contrast. And another reason why this is one of the most powerful shows I've ever known.

When Rick said “I’ll be in the garage if you need me” he really meant “Do any of you care/need me here?” And the fact nobody showed up just proved nobody needs him. They’d all be fine without him and all he does its hurt everyone around him.

This episode will always be special to me because I was homeless at 18 and I had nowhere to go but my friend took me in and let me sleep on his couch and put the tv on for me and this episode played..
