First Ride on the YZ250 Yamaha 2-Stroke Dirt Bike

Finally had a chance to take out my 2006 Yamaha YZ250. This is the first time I'm riding it since I purchased it sight unseen. I haven't taken it out because the OHV trails in my area have been closed for winter and riding dirt bikes on the street is heavily regulated in my state, but I still wanted to take it out for a bit to get a better idea of the condition of the bike so I can start a list of maintenance items to take care of. I want to get this bike in tip-top shape before hitting trails with it..

It probably understeered because you had your weight too far back and it does lighten the front when accelerating like you noticed

That's a Mans Bike bro. I used to ride 4 strokes on the trails, Hill climbs are the hardest on 2 stroke to keep rpm's up.... Great Stuff Buddy :)

32:1 is normal. i’m not a scientist or anything but i think that’s what should be run in most 2 stroke engines. and i’ve never used 91 octane i’ve only used 87 but i used it in a 85 and a ktm 150 so idrk. May save you a couple bucks

It´s normal for a 2 stroke to smoke like that, you do got to let it warm up for at least 3 or 4 minutes, I ran 32-1 and 91 with no problems and got 80 hours out of a top end also that black oil is normal just wipe it off. Those 140 and 230 trail bikes have no power but they are fun just to mess around on, and with that 250 you are only taping the power band when you going down a dirt road pined there will be even more power. Have fun and don´t die.

1st, twice the power. Twice the stroke half the power.
2 strokes are ALL hP . No tq. I love pirelli scorpion. Seems proper oil.
2strokes are goi ng away. As they put nasty stuff in the air, which leads to water. 2 stroke outboards pollute. So they are now banned.
