15-12 Cholinergic Synapse (Cambridge AS A Level Biology, 9700)

Показать описание
Steps for the transmission of impulses across a cholinergic synapse.
1. Action potential reaches the end of the presynaptic neurone
2. Ca2+ channel opens, and Ca ions rush into the presynaptic neurone
3. Vesicles with ACh moves to the cell surface membrane
4. Exocytosis of ACh
5. diffusion of ACh across the synaptic cleft
6. ACh binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neurone
7. Ligand Gated Na+ channels open and Na+ rush into the postsynaptic neurone
8. Postsynaptic neurone depolarizes (generating the new action potential_
9. ACh detaches from the receptor and is broken down by acetylcholinesterase
10. It forms choline and acetate
11. Choline is reabsorbed into presynaptic neurone and regenerated back into ACh.
