Since you've stalked me this far, I might as well reveal the location of my other hideouts.

This whole video was so passive aggressive and sarcastic and I love it

Along with that stifling heat and oppressive humidity, you forgot to mention what happens when a nice refreshing cold front comes in from Canada and hits all that heat and humidity: thunderstorms and even tornados! Who wouldn’t love those?

My Midwestern self actually likes the ac noise. It helps me sleep though the itchy mosquito bites.

Season in NJ: Winter: Freezing hell; Spring: Muddy hell; Summer: Burning hell; Fall: Starts hot, ends freezing, in the middle there are 10 nice days during which you have to rake all the leaves off your lawn. It's paradise, really.

HA! The trials of summer in the Midwest. You’re right to be suspicious of the ice cream, it will leave a stream down your arm if you’re not quick enough!

Hahahaha how vert British of you to be ever so slightly passive aggressive and nearly boiling with rage. I’m highly allergic to mosquitos but have never thought of keeping one as a pet. This is a thing I never thought to consider! Thank you! It’s great to see your smiling face. Take care!

I can tell that you transplanted directly into the Midwest and have been based there pretty consistently. When I moved from my childhood home in Illinois back in 1972 to Connecticut, I had to learn to call the fizzy drinks "soda" instead of "pop." No one calls it pop here.

Oh man, Laurence, you nailed it! Being a Midwesterner my entire life, I have had the added hardship of living in Michigan, the midwestern state that is lined on all sides (but one in each peninsula) with those beaches full of joyous, friendly midwesterners and tourists. Plus there are numerous ice cream shops and lots of nature and forests...All of this is enough to make me giddy with glee and flowing over with friendliness! It makes my brain so addled so that I can’t tell the good from the bad...I’ll bet you understand the conditions of this affliction perfectly...Congrats...You have officially achieved true Midwestern status! Loved this video!

You failed to mention the ear shattering buzzing of the cicadas. My favorite summer sound. Beats a polar vortex. That's what's great about the Midwest and here in northern Illinois. Freezing cold winters and stifling hot summers. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of Mirai sweet corn from Twin Garden Farms. The best corn on the planet.

I needed this laugh!🤣🤣🤣 Thank you!!! I grew up in IA and lived in KS, MO, NE and OK as a young married adult. The best part about the extreme Temps in Summer and Winter was that I appreciated the other seasons! I live in the Pacific Northwest now and love the less extreme Temps. I do miss the Falls of the Midwest a lot. Age tends to make it harder to deal with those extreme temp changes!

I like the sound of AC units. I have central AC but I still run one in my bedroom window at night.

I agree wholeheartedly. I miss midwestern summers, but luckily I now live in Florida where we have the “best” parts of midwestern summers all year ‘round.
