People who know his game understand how skilled he is, the natural ability and instinct to score, aerial prowess, explosiveness, terrific finisher with both hands. Before steph curry arrived, he was the pioneer of players shooting beyond the 3pt line and making them. Not mentioning his underrated handles and passing skills. High IQ Talent

He was extremely athletic could shoot lights out ambidextrous he’s definitely up there he just didn’t have the will like some of his peers.

Vince the greatest dunker ever who can actually shoot the ball and is an underrated passer.

They dont call him "half-man half-amazing" for nothing. Bought his shoes, because i thought it will make my vert higher (i was a kid).
The nets RJ, was a great 2-3 option. Was a high flyer himself.

God may have blessed him with athletic ability. But the shooting and offensive skill? That was hard work. Vc was not a good shooter when he came into the league. He worked at that from a young age saying he’s going to need it once his athletic ability fades. His first 4 years he improved every season in terms of total offensive game and range. And in New Jersey he formed into a great all around player, passer, and leader once Kidd left.

I think VC needed the right coach and another all star teammate to unlock his next level. No he doesn’t have the will like Kobe or MJ (few do!). But his prime years, here were the all stars he played with: 01 Antonio Davis, 07 Jason Kidd, 09 Devin Harris. 😬 give VC another all star who demands a double team and a great coach/system, may be a different story.

Just for everyone that doesn’t want to look up the numbers RJ was referring to…27pts, 6reb, 4.7ast, 46%FG, 42.5% 3p

To be honest, Vince could have been better than Jordan if his mental was there. Literally the only weaknesses in his game were effort, and the will to not accept losing.

Naturally gifted = effortless. Talented is a different level or gear that “most” of the Superstars had to work on. Take MJ or Kobe. The work they put in mentally and physically is unmatched. Vince was a natural. Only player to have 2000 - 3’s and 1000 - dunks. Ambidextrous 3pt shooter. He played for the love of it!

Vince was throwing down Windmills at 40 years old, definitely the most athletically gifted basketball player, but KD has a huge argument for most gifted in terms of skills

Only the hardcore VC fans know he was a better all around player once he left Toronto. Rounded out all his skills. Dunked less but was more lethal from anywhere on the court. Just look at his buzzer beaters against Utah and Atl for example. Shooting game winners 8 feet away from the 3 point line. Also helped that he probably learned a lot of Jason kidd.

I remember kobe saying something about vince carter making him want to play college. so this is a valid argument

Could have been in the discussion as the GOAT with (late) Kobe and MJ's mentality.

Yes, but he mentally lacked what Kobe and MJ had... Angry Vince was scary good, but he was mostly nice.

It seems like Vince was just happy to be in the NBA and played just cuz he loved to play. He wanted to win I’m sure but it seems like he was ok with not winning after a while. He was fun to watch in his prime though.
