Years ago my family and I, who are also Latino, were on vacation in Miami. And we started a conversation with the bell porter who was this really nice young Latino kid who had immigrated to the US.

He told us he had worked for a business doing construction in Miami that was contracted with Trump. He said after months of work that he, his father, and many other construction workers put in to build a Trump property, Trump refused to pay. He said it had happened so many times, businesses in Miami refused to work with Trump as he wasn't honoring contracts and it would get tied up in courts.

At that time, Trump was just known for the Apprentice, TV show. No one would ever have thought about him running for president and there was no reason for this kid to lie.

I never, ever forgot this. I realized that Trump wasn't a great business man. He was a crook. He is not a family man. He will take from your family. And he didn't care about immigrants or Latinos. He would steal anyway he could from the most vulnerable people.

That's who Trump is. For all the Latinos who voted for him, you've either been duped or your own prejudice is so strong, you are just as terrible as this man.

He's right. I'm Hispanic and from TX, Mexican American actually, and we have an an issue with republican Latinos thinking the party isn't coming for them. Trees voting for the axe.

Respectfully, Trump didn't win decisively with black men. 77% of Black men voted for VP Harris (which was SLIGHTLY lower than in 2020 for Biden). 92% of Black women voted for VP Harris.

White women and Latino/Hispanic men sealed this awful deal.

Perez, as a middle aged Cuban American woman living in Miami, you hit the nail on the head. I have never been more ashamed and embarrassed of the ignorance and racism of the people of my heritage towards other Latino groups and Black people. Been called "Cubana arrepentida" my whole life for not agreeing with my family's and community's way of thinking. Im so tired of trying to understand the unfathomable: WHY would people who came here to escape a dictator choose another one, and to make it even worse, be PROUD of their ignorance? Porque seguir tropezando con la misma piedra?? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

People are so selfish that they get what they want and forget about the others.

She still got 78 percent of the black male vote. And 90 something percent of the black women vote. We did our part, the Latino women did their part. White women is the biggest group of voters. I appreciate the ones that did vote for harris. But They where the biggest disappointment, once again like in 2016.

I concur with you Perez. For immigrant Latinos who are in the US, they were "Oh let me in - I deserve it and I'm a good, hard-working person". Now, those same people in Miami/Dade and other heavily populated Latino communities wouldn't piss on immigrants if they were on fire.

Easy answer.
They're prejudiced against their own people.

The macho/ misogynistic culture in our community is a big factor as well. In my humble opinion.

I am a white male 60 years old. I am so very confused on everything that is going on. I am terrified of loosing social security and health benefits when I get ready to retire in 5 years.

The real issue is that many voters decided to vote for DT because they are not willing to accept a female of color as the President of our country! I AM READY for a female President NO MATTER what race she is as long as she has the character, love of our country, inclusivity of all people, integrity, hard work ethic, intelligence etc. of Kamala Harris!

I am half Latina, my father came from Cuba. I will never understand how Latinos can feel this way, when they are immigrants themselves. They came here to escape Castro, why the hell would they not want the same for others? Blows my mind.

I will never understand why people will vote against their own best interests. There are people that are going to have big regrets soon.

Black vote? Black women 92% same as 2020; 78% black men just 1% less than 2020. We were the most solid voting block for the ticket.

My family on my dad's side is from Argentina. My grandfather brought his family up from South America when my dad was five because Argentina was becoming fascist and he didn't want to raise a family in that environment. He came here legally. Thankfully, my grandmother was an American citizen, which made all of their children American citizens, and he was able to get a green card and a work permit to stay here. He worked for over a decade to get his citizenship and finally got it when my dad was a senior in high school. In his old age, he started watching fox News every night, and by the time Trump came along in 2015, he was already primed to listen to his insane rhetoric. He would constantly complain about how illegals are coming over the border, putting a strain on our economy and bringing crime. My uncle also fell into this trap and would complain about how these people should just stay in their country and improve it rather than ruin ours. I would say to him, "they could say the same about you, uncle John. You weren't born here. Your family was fleeing a volatile political climate. You just got lucky. Grandma was an American citizen. If you didn't have that, you would be in the same boat as these people." It never sank in, and I have never been able to change his opinion on this matter.

I"m a hispanic lesbian in Texas and most of my immediate family voted for Trump. I don't understand why but today has been very difficult as I work in the family business. 5 p.m hasn't come fast enough so I can just feel what I want and need to feel. I've tried to maintain my distance from them today as much as possible as politcs and family don't mix well.

So it's a racist thing. Also, don't bitch and moan when you or one of your family members get kicked out of America.

He was threatening to deport them calling them garbage and still they are voting for him. 🤦‍♀️
