Silver Spoon Music is proud to present, the latest of our Bowed Lyres in the Peg-leg Series. The design is retrospectively adapted as a transitional point between the Welsh Crwth, the Greek Lyra, and the traditional Jouhikko. The bridge sits beneath the higher string upon one leg resting on a softwood soundboard, continuing through a hole beneath the heavier strings, resting atop the hardwood backer, making a second soundboard. When played both boards resonate with their individual qualities in tone, dually creating, a very loud, clear, rounded tone. This is the same rudimentary execution of the concept of a sound-post found in your finer bowed instruments.

This instrument is made of jointed and glued European Beech, two types of multiplex, hemp, and counted 250 micron Flourocarbon wound strings. Comes complete with pin-adjustable bent Beech bow, Rosin not included. Measuring at 55/15/3.5 cm, very light weight with a shallow sound cavity emitting a deceiving volume for its looks.

All instruments are built to order just for you. Custom options are available and always welcome. Click the customize this order button beneath the picture on the listing and you can choose to upgrade with your choice of stain, including Blackwash, Mahogany, Teak, Cherry, Whitewash, Sunburst (teak/mahogany), and of course natural with linseed oil. Also available are option to upgrade with fine tuners, and choice of classic or simple stringer designs.

This year Silver Spoon Music is making a push to boost its Graphics Options, mainly with Kolrosing (Norse wood tattooing technique). Visit the Facebook Page, Silver Spoon Music/Photos/Albums/Kolrosing, Stains, and Shadows, for some examples of previous work. Please if you have an idea that you do not see already, contact me, and lets see what we can work out.

Thanks!

Please keep in mind all work is done by hand so each instrument takes a lot of work, if you price mine in comparison to others you will find my instruments a bargain and I am working at a very low hourly rate. Also as the amount of orders fluctuate, so does construction, first in/first out, a general estimate is a week to two to ship.
