Corporate fines should be should be so high that it causes share value to drop significantly.

I would really like to see legislation that actually holds businesses accountable.

Billion dollar fines NOW!! Not petty million dollar fines that don’t even come close to the stolen profits!!

We need more Journalism like this. No Corporate BS allowed.

They do it because they know there's no penalty that could be brought against them that will exceed the profit they made.

Thank you for teaching media literacy on top of everything else you cover!

"I'm sorry we cheated you, but trust us we're holding ourselves, the cheaters, accountable to fix the issues."

Every customer who was affected by this should sue for at least 1 million dollars. Cause you have no idea how much these corporations actually stole from you.

They should be forced to pay fines that costs double or more the profits they made from it...

Sounds like it is time for some class action lawsuits

Great example of how important CBC is and why we need to protect it!

Hey David. Thank you for running Canadian stories. Please keep them front and centre at least until the election passes.

You would never get this kind of reporting from mainstream privately owned media. CBC is essential to Canada.

Good to see The Rational National feature The National. Now to get The National to feature The Rational National. (That was a mouth full).

When I saw this article on the CBC app a couple days ago, my first thought was "of course it's Loblaw again" and then "I'm gonna miss the CBC when it's gone". I hope Poilievre doesn't succeed in defending it, but the swing to rightwing anti-intellectualism in Canada gives me little hope. CBC is far from perfect, but it is one of the few news broadcasters that I actually trust. CBC Marketplace has been especially empowering for me as a consumer. They should be preserved at all costs.

I've seen Superstores jacking the price of meat and slapping a 30% off sticker on it. They rip off their employees as well.

When I was in college in 1969 my roommate and I found a frozen chicken that OBVIOUSLY weighed less than the weight on the wrapping.
When we showed this to the store manager he shrugged and said "It happens, but we also have chickens marked less than they actually weigh."
When we told him that we had never seen an "underweighed" chicken, he said "Of course not! The shoppers grab those chickens first!"
We shopped in that store for the next three years and *never* saw an underweighed (and underpriced) chicken.

One thing Fascist Milhouse wants to do when he's PM is to dismantle the CBC. While not perfect the CBC is in many cases some community's only link to the outside world. By doing that service as well as unbiased journalism like this, shows why its such an iconic and important thread in the fabric of Canada.

We need to charge more than just fines for crimes like these. It need to be the full profit the company made from the scheme and the fine.
