At the moment the future of Huawei's smartphone business is unknown. The camera performance is still the same. But how it compares to the Nokia Lumia 1020?

It's just impossible to believe what Nokia did years ago and why it was the best brand back then.

PureView devices are legendary. No one can beat them. They have their own class.
RIP Huawei 💐💐

Finally, the comparison I have been waiting for since the launch of the P30 Pro! 🤩

Here's my POV from the comparison:
0:55 There seems to be a hint of purple tint from the L1020, as seen from the front of the Mustang.
1:07 The L1020 doesn't exhibit too much exposure or whiteness compare to P30P.
1:22 The yellow petals on the L1020 seems a bit overexposed compared to P30P. Mind you, the greeny bit looks better on the L1020.
1:36 The sky is to anyone's own preference, but there seems to be some colour difference for the mirrors on the boat. It feels like as if the L1020 possessed better reflection than the P30P.
1:51 The letters and the bricks on the P30P looks oversharpened a little, but it didn't hurt the whole photo much. A tight draw here between the two.
2:04 Both of them are so different in so many way! Which one's the most accurate to real life human eye? 😅
2:18 The leaves on P30P is overexposed compared to L1020.
2:32 L1020 all the way, looks more pleasing to the eye.
2:50 The same as 2:04. It looks reddish on the P30P while yellowish on the L1020.
3:05 It's a tad overexposed on the L1020, and it feels to me that the P30P looks sharper, especially with that green plant.
3:18 Red sunset on the P30P or the yellow sunset on the L1020?
3:33 Some green tint can be seen clearly with the L1020, but that brake lights really raises me the colour accuracy question. 🤔
4:01 Notice the slightly overexposed whiteness from the display mirror on the L1020. Mind you, the brick lines can be seen clearer on the L1020.
4:16 Again, yet another colour accuracy question. 😅
4:29 There is some slight hint on colour accuracy differences, but apart from that... both looks great. Really don't know which one to choose here.
4:47 5:30 My word, the colour difference is so damn obvious here (😱)! Is it because of Huawei's SuperSpectrum RYYB arrangement?
5:02 6:02 An obviously solid win for the L1020. At 5:02, it shows less overexposure and clearer looking sky.
5:15 The sky looks different from each other and there seems to be a hint of green tint from the mirror on the P30P. Otherwise, great shot for both of them.
5:47 Well the L1020 is definitely looks brighter than P30P, but I see less noise with P30P. Probably because of it's lower ISO count or faster shutter speed?
6:17 I noticed that the red colour from the "No bicycle" sign on L1020 is more obvious than the P30P. As a matter of fact, the steel pillar looks sharper on the L1020 as well.
6:31 Definitely a completely different output from the two.

My verdict?
I said to myself that it is hard to find any Android camera that can match the photo quality of the Nokia/Microsoft PureView on Windows Phone devices. Now the premise of mine become stonger, there's still work needed to be done to surpass them.

Do appreciate the sharing of your dedicated review. Professional and trustworthy.
Yes, to everyone surprise, 1020 still rocks and even beat the most mighty Cameraphone now in 2019. Except for yellowish color in some inmages, 1020 produce more true-to-life images vs those crispy clear but with abit artificial ones from P300 pro due to its AI system.
For this reason, I have a collection of 1020 at home :)
Amazing 1020.

The 1020 is an awesome camera but it has that little green hint in all it's photo's that now days is so apparent with the high quality screens we use to look at photographs.. still an amazing camera for old technology..👍🍀😁

Lumia 1020 even today is still giving new camera mobile phone's a run for their money.. It's easier to see the slight green tint that comes of the Lumia 1020 photographs with the detail you get on oled screens now days... That a side it's still awesome for old technology.. Still have my Lumia 925 tho it's buried in a drawer more's the pity...

Huawei has better JPEG processing technologies thats why the photos look more detailed than Lumia's samples for daily using. But thing is you can't edit Huawei's photos more because they are already edited as long as they are not RAW capture. If you know how to edit a photo, Lumia is still the best.

JPGs were almost at the same level in both, but pure RAW capture was way ahead in the Lumia. That's why I'm keeping my 950 XL for as long as I can, this thing keeps slaying iPhones, Huawei, Samsung and every device camera I've had the chance to compare it to. Might get a 1020 just for for fun. Would love to play with the DNG captures

If you go back and look at reviews of the Lumia 1020 when it was released, reviews were tepid, and its camera was ridiculously understated.

Son 6 años de diferencia en ambos modelos, la tecnología avanza! pero sorprende como de noche el Lumia no se amilana.

To me it looks like Huawei P30 Pro has slight edge overall. Both seem to be a bit hit-or-miss on the exposure and white balance and Nokia 1020 has a little more potential in daylight from looking at the raw mode photos. However, most higher end phones have usable image quality in daylight already so I'm going to put a lot of weight to low light performance and here P30 Pro wins with a good margin. If only had Huawei done a little better work on auto exposure and white balance. In the future, I'd like to see ISO and exposure time for each shot for each camera.
