I don’t think I have ever known another person that LITERALLY sees the beauty in EVERYTHING. From all the greenery of spring and summer to the golds and browns of fall and winter……and you share them with us. Thank you Precious Angel baby/woman child. The 76 yr old MeeMaw here. Don’t stop. You lift us up!! 🥰

Sometimes I just need a break from seeing all the evil and depravity in our world so I look for a good long Celebrating Appalachia video and tune in while I’m cooking or sewing. I know I have told you this before but the way you and Matt sit and talk about things, old and new, gives me so much peace. My Mother and Daddy used to do the same thing, so when I have you in the background, hearing you talk and laugh about things, it is like having them with me in the kitchen or my sewing room just having a nice chat. I sure miss those times with them. So, listening to you and Matt talk about gardening or cooking using the same phrases and terminology they did, always gives me joy, peace and a warmth in my heart. ❤

I love seeing all the food and flowers growing. I’m disabled and unable to maintain a garden right now, so I enjoy watching others. Happy Labor Day!

Hi Tipper and Matt, listening to you talk about sweet potato reminds me of when I was about 8 or 9. It had gotten cold and me and Daddy had fed the cows and put them in the barn for the night. As we walked back to the house, daddy asked me if I wanted something sweet to eat? Well of course I did, so he walked over to the garden and dug up a sweet potato . He wiped the dirt off and cut me off a slice of potato. I remember that it tasted so good. I will always have that memory and I love that. I don't know if you heard or not, but Megan of True Grit Appalachia ways, lost her father unexpectedly this past week Keep them in your prayers. Just letting you know. Love yall

Very dry here in Ohio. Half the production from last year. My Mother loved white half runner bean, greasy beans and white sweet potatoes. I grew rattle snake beans this summer, it's is a new favorite. I also grew Mother Stallard beans also. My pink eye purple hull peas had great production as usual.

No matter what harvest time is so special. I love getting the veggies from our garden and putting up some for the winter. God's gifts are amazing.

Even though we were promised rain, but not received, this past Saturday here in S.Ohio, there is a beautiful cool breeze this morning with the sounds of Fall mixed in. I can almost smell it, maybe from the wind blowing through the drying corn field across the street. I am so ready to get out of the heat! Like Matt, I'm ready for that in May!! I was watching a gardening video, and this man was talking about planting fall zucchini, he's in Michigan, but I am ready to yank out everything and give it all a rest for 2024 gardening.

Hey, Matt: sprinkle your baking pan with cornmeal and then lay your bread dough on top of it. The bread won't stick to the pan and the cornmeal will give the bottom crust a good crunch.

I'm with you Ms. Tipper, my cucumbers didn't do diddly this year either. It was SO dry and I agree with you vegetables don't like hose water. I'm hopin' that we'll at least have something of a Fall instead of going from Summer to Winter, like it usually does. Sending y'all love and Best Wishes from Memphis. I'm with Mr. Matt, lived here all my life but I can't handle this heat, it's getting worse.

I forgot to comment on this one! I can hardly believe that the growing season is almost over! You sure had a nice harvest, for such a dry summer. AND, I am really intrigued by the bread dough that Matt was talking about! I do a lot of camping during the hunting season and I have to try making that bread, for sure!😃

I'm from Wise Va. and knew Carrie Stallard. She knew my Papa and Granny. Wonderful lady. And excellent cook.
