How We Treat Each Other | Lawry Halden & Rubeun Yorkshire

Показать описание
In 2024, the City of Stirling commissioned local artists Lawry Halden and Rubeun Yorkshire to complete a mural as part of the Balga Plaza Streetscape Upgrades project. How We Treat Each Other is a love letter to Balga, inspired by both Lawry and Rubeun's strong connections to the community, and Rubeun's experiences growing up in the area as a proud Nyoongar, Yamatji and Wangktha man.
The artwork depicts a montage of stories from the Balga community across three walls, starting with Nan blowing protective smoke across the community as they live and play, towards her grandchild who has been shown culture. The final wall depicts a wardong (crow) and maniych (white cockatoo), representing the two Nyoongar skin tribes, considering each other on the scape of a Balga tree.
