man this happens to me too! I solve the problem, its simple: Look at the solder, in my case there were a little piece of solder making contact under the 2 joint... remove that and its solved...

I have the same problem with my American Stage PW cable and my Ibanez guitars with the barrel jack. It's a shame, really, because they sound killer.
