Initially planned to take about four years, the project has faced delays due to challenges like land acquisition issues and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these setbacks, significant progress has been made, though the completion timeline has been extended.

As of 2024, the first phase is nearing completion, with final touches expected by the end of the year. The project, once fully completed, will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in Kampala, benefiting both commuters and businesses.
