Let me make the songs of a nation, and I care not who makes its law.
— Plato, Greek philosopher
At the dusk of the 21st century, two ancient hymns were unearthed at the sacred site of Delphi, Greece. Dating back to 128 BC, the 1st Delphic Hymn calls for the Muses to leave their home on Mount Helicon and join their song to honor Apollo, the God of Music.
In this performance, Lina Palera, the world-renowned lyre player, plays a melody based on the actual surviving song. Lina performs on her 13strings Lyre of Olympus, masterfully handcrafted in Greece by the LUTHIEROS family.
