There was a full moon July 2nd 1776 and on July 3rd 2023.
On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence from Great Britain. The vote was unanimous.
The moon was in the Waning Gibbous phase on July 4, 1776, the day the colonies declared their independence from England. This is the first phase after the Full Moon when the moon's light declines day by day.
The American Revolutionary War, also known as the Revolutionary War or the United States War of Independence, was fought between 1775 and 1783. The war began as a protest against taxes levied by the British monarchy and Parliament without colonial representation. The war became a "war for independence" on July 4, 1776.
