Do kids run the show when it comes to these kidflunencer social media channels?

This is the latest novel Les Enfants Sont Rois by Delphine De Vigan (translated from French by Alison Anderson) that answers this question.

Written partly as a thriller but also dystopic (but not really, you can see how as a society we are already down the path she writes about) and also a commentary about how children are used as labour by parents on platforms like YouTube to sell and endorse products, brands and sponsors.

It's a fascinating read because it also has two characters who are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to how isolated they are from society through the use - or non use - of social media.

This book made me think long and hard about my own endeavours with social media and now, with this YouTube channel.

It was with distaste I even created an Amazon Affilate link to this book because frankly, despite how much I try to come up with excuses, the fact of the matter is, I'm doing the same thing here.....and trying to explain myself out of it and in some way to be able to build a channel that would be my new business.

Well anyway, I'm pontificating. Much to think about.

Oh, and this would be an excellent book club book as it would generate lots of discussion.
