In this video I explore the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Saltburn by the Sea. I ride the amazing Funicular and walk along Yorkshire's only pleasure pier before visiting one of my favourite hidden beaches.

I was living in saltburn when the cable snapped on the funicular railway. Thankfully it was overnight. The top car free fell into the station at the bottom. It now has 2 cables!!

A big part of Victorian Saltburn was the Italianate gardens - still worth a visit to imagine how things used to be. Miniature railway and tearoom.

Takes me back as we used to fish off the pier when we were kids in the 60s . The pier was longer then . But in 71 and 73 storms damaged the piles and it was removed, my mother lived in marske, and father in amber Street, saltburn so i would walk along the beach . Philmores country club was a fantastic nightclub just above where your van is parked, seen some top acts there back in the day . Cool and the gang, chris rea made his debut there, all the top 70s acts would sing live, left in 1980 to travel the world, thanks for the memories, regards

I was once at the top near the fernicula, next to my old matchless 500 and Rowan Atkinson came out with his family, he would have been there for the motor vehicle hill climb they used to do in saltburn as he is a bit of a Motorhead 😊 didn't ask for his autograph as didn't want to disturb him with his family but he did smile 😁 .

Can't believe you have been all up and down the North East coast and missed the best place out, Hartlepool! There is so much history here and lots to see, you would need 2 days to see most things. There is also Seaton Carew 2 miles from the centre which is a seaside resort with arcades etc. I am 78 years old and disabled and the only holidays I get now is when I watch your video's. Thanks to Helen and yourself I get out and it's like having mates to talk to ( virtual mates ) ha. Take care of yourselves. Love old H. x

When you were counting the stories on those houses on marine parade, I fitted the velux windows in the top left hand roof, the first flat on the row. I am a roofer by trade.

Hi M8. Enjoyable videos. I'm new to you. But I live near Saltburn and walk to Skinningrove often.
Now the Ship in Saltburn date's to the 1500 s along with some now demolished buildings alongside.
The Victorian town grew in the 19 th century off the railways. Keep up the good work.

Nice video, love Saltburn. We took the wife's Uncle there for a visit when he visited from New Zealand, had some great fish and chips from the chippy on the sea front.
