The longest home run I`ve ever seen was hit by Reggie Jackson on July 5, 1969-less than a month after this game here.It was at Minnesota off of Jim Perry in the first inning. It was a Game of The Week on NBC.Wish there was footage of that shot!

Reggie's home run trot got better with age.

didn't look like he got all of it, but it got out. reggie at the age of 23, much slimmer than his yankee days, huge year, 47 home runs, 118 rbi, led the league with 123 runs.

June 15, 1969. Jim Nash gets the win and Lew Krause the save as Oakland prevails, 13-5. Reggie goes 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.

That the voice of Ken Coleman calling the play by play. I grew up listen to him and Ned Martin call Red Sox games.
Brings back some good memories.

Compared to today's graphics on a TV broadcast, it's funny to just see a simple name on the screen during a broadcast.

I think this was in June and Reggie was ahead of Ruth's 61 HR pace at that time.

Had Reggie not tapered off dramatically in 1969 from mid-August onward, he my have broken Roger Maris' record for homers in a season. For about four and a half months he was easily the best player in either league.

Mets passed on him. in the draft for a catcher who never made . imagine passing on Reggie Jackson. The Mets had to lose IQ points that day.
