This video presents, from the beginning, the process of dumping or sinking the former Destroyer Comodoro Manuel Azueta, a vessel 94 m long, 11 m wide and 18 m high that the Mexican Navy decided to sink to become a reef artificial, in the seas of the Gulf of Mexico, in Antón Lizardo, Veracruz.

This was originally the USS Hurst launched in 1943. It was sold to Mexico in 1973 where it served until 2014. The ship was then sunk and turned into a reef 2017. This ship had quite a long life being in service for over 70 years.

We sit and watch this ship sinking, but we must try to imagine what it must have been like for sailors trapped on ships that got sunk during the wars. It must have been absolutely terrifying. 🇬🇧

Vídeo incrível, fico imaginando o desespero de quem afunda com um navio como por exemplo passageiros do mais famoso navio Titanic.

This proves boats are also concious as you can clearly see the other boats gathering around their sinking old friend.

Ele também se partiu ao meio. Vejam no momento em que a popa "cai" na superfície da água e afunda de vez...

Think of the movies you've seen that included people inside a sinking ship... the water cascades in gently as they swim to the nearest hatch...

NOPE. Not a chance of moving in a direction you desire. You'll move where the water takes you, and NOW.

Nossa, na vida real a água entrando é até mais violento que no filme do Titanic.

I came here looking for this, and looking at that parade of boats in the background, I'm not the only one who will go out their way to see this 😏

I think it would better to sell the metal to a steel mill. My opinion, concrete dome pods work better as a reef.

No, it doesn’t sink that fast. It only did here because they completely stripped it down and did everything to make it sink quickly.
