I'm ok with fangirls, but it just annoys me when they're fangirling over shit artists, telling everyone (including people who actually know something about music) that their favourite artist is the best musician ever.

Honestly, from the age of today's Beliebers, the thought of sex kind of scared me. So crushing on all my various crushes (these included Daniel Radcliffe, Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy, and I think even Ashton Kutcher), it got out my feelings of wanting to pursue romantic relationships and all the fun of them, without the scary thought of having to do something I wasn't quite ready for.

They fact that girls (like Beliebers or Directioners) have an idol is ok with me.
But when they uphold this "idol" so highly, JUST because they are attractive, and the fact the"idol" could be a horrible person (or at least in what they do *cough* Bieber), it makes me "just" a little bit pissed.

Never had the fangirling... probably because I'm gay and in denial for most of my teen years... So I didn't feel anything for the boys and I was afraid to develop/admit anything for the Yay societal caused emotional stunting! :P

I once taught a class in an elementary school, and the girls couldn't stop talking about him, it was maddening. It was the first time I've even heard of him.

The thing that puts me off the most about him and other boy bands, is how they convey themselves like they're actively trying to seduce whoever is watching them. It makes watching them very uncomfortable. It is not even their idea in all likelihood. Big labels use them to sexually arouse young girls out of their parents' money.

Taking my 8 yr old to DownTown Disney to see "Never Say Never"
gave me 'BieberFever'!
Instantly I was teleported back in time to posters all over my walls, screaming bloody murder for 2 hours at my first Donny Osmond concert! I relished it all.
Marketing Geniuses...For Sure!
Till this day I'm in love w/ my first love, Donny Osmond. So honestly I must confess, "I'm A Belieber"!

I'm a 13yr old girl and don't really fangirl over anything. I used to want to be Ezio and Lara Croft at some point though, whether or not that counts.

DNews I'd like to set the record straight and say that "fangirl-ing" is not strictly a love for popstars. My theory is that originated from people who center their lives around fandoms, or "fanatic domains" which are essentially different series, be it books, movies, tv shows, manga, anime, or even just a movie without sequels, or books without sequels, that people are fans of. I'm probably way off on this. However, back to what I'm saying, "fangirl-ing" and by extension, "fanboy-ing" are also an infatuation with a fictional character, and not just a romantic infatuation. There are also those who just love certain characters, and have images of them everywhere simply because they find them amazing and/or fascinating.
