I’m so glad I came across your other video. I searched the comments and found where you referenced this one for concrete slab. My carpet is already installed and I’m laying vinyl planks over existing linoleum. They used the small metal transition strip so I would more than likely need to expand the foyer area to install a zbar and have enough carpet to tuck it? Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks for the great videos! Easy to follow for a newbie like myself!

Thanks for the video. I’m gonna look smart to my husband once I do this.

Ah! So that is how the installer got my carpet rolled over at the edge. Unfortunately, he did it too far back. And now I am putting in new vinyl sheet and need to figure out how to get it to tuck under the carpet. Can I just pry the metal up a little and shove the vinyl under and then tap it back down?

Thanks for posting such helpful videos! I watched many videos about z bar installation before this one and you explained it very well. These are very appreciated!

Any tips on getting the tack strip secured the the concrete subfloor? The nails either bend or the head breaks

This was exceptionally well done. Every time I had a question you either already addressed it or you further demonstrated it using your samples. 👍

Thanks for this. I wondered how they kept the carpet rolled down like that. Question: My installer cut my carpet back too far so you can see the sheet vinyl under the door, is there any sort of soft transition strip you would recommend that wouldn't be uncomfortable to bare feet when stepping on it for a carpet to sheet vinyl installation? I want to cover that gap a bit but all the products I seem to find are ridged metal that would be uncomfortable to walk on.

Great video! If installing laminate flooring and carpet, would you recommend making the transition with the z bar before installing the laminate? Or, should I put in the laminate and then install the zbar transition with the carpet?

Never knew this how dumb because I remove carpet all the time and instal hard surfaces..

How do you attach it to concrete though?

Might want to stretch the rug into the strip

If you were to put tile where the vinyl is, would the z bar need to come out? Could you put some kind of shim under the folded part to lift it a little?

Do you think it is ok to use liquid nails to glue down the pad? Should I do it just at the perimeter or should I also put a bit in the center too?

But you still need a transition strip dont you? Like if that was new carpet and new lino meeting there wouldn't you need a strip anyway? So what does the z strip really accomplish?

Also, should there always be tack strips in the doorway transition? Wont the transition strip hold the carpet? You would feel the tack strip like a lump under the carpet wouldnt you?

Thanks

Would you recommend doing this z bar up against a floating vinyl plank floor? I’ve read that it would be very easy for the vinyl planks to move. Can I glue down the last row of vinyl?
We don’t want to use a visible T molding if we don’t have to, so any advice is greatly appreciated.
