How AMERICAN are the MARSHALL ISLANDS?

IAKWE (HELLO) FROM THE MARSHALL ISLANDS 🇲🇭Life is wonderful out here in country #157!

It was already expected that the Marshall Islands would be absolutely stunning (and it certainly is)... but it was unexpected how AMERICAN it feels here!

- They use U.S. dollars.
- They speak (American) English.
- They play basketball.
- They drink Bud Light.
- They use miles and Fahrenheit and feet.

I haven't been home in 6+ months and it is so amazing (and refreshing) to experience this "home" feeling in the middle of the Pacific Ocean - the Marshall Islands!

I really love the Marshall Islands and Micronesia. In school we looked at an world map to search for the most ridiculous country to hold a presentation. As my friends and I began researching we became obsessed with their culture and history. Great Place, great People, great Video.

Interesting video, I am glad you were able to give insights of the Marshalls Islands. I did 3 different working tours in the Marshall Islands at Kwajalein working for the Kwajalein Police Department: Nov 96 to Nov 98, May 99 to May 2003 and May 2004 to Jan 2012. I ended up marrying a local woman. So my children have deep ties to the Marshall Islands now living in the states with two of my oldest in the US Military. Those 13 plus years was very spectacular and was able to visit Ebeye, and even Majuro quite often. I been blesse to be well recognize there too. Excellent memories there.

I lived there for two years from 2012 to 2014. Loved the area and it is well worth it to visit the other atolls besides Majuro and Kwajalein.

Ever since I worked with a group from the Marshall Islands, I’ve always wanted to go visit. They were maybe the nicest and happiest people I’ve ever met.

Im from Micronesia 🇫🇲(FSM- Federated States of Micronesia)
After world war two basically the whole Micronesian region was controlled by the US & was called the “TRUST TERRITORY of the PACIFIC. A few years into it the Marshall islands decided to abandon the TRUST TERRITORY & form its own republic with the same benefits as a Trust territory but a separate nation. Then Palau & then the Northen Mariana islands now called CNMI(Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana islands) only the CNMI agreed to be a commonwealth rather then stick to the Trust Territory. Today the only islands that are still supposedly still the “Trust territories” are Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei & Kosrae now called the “FSM” (Federated States of Micronesia also known as Micronesia 🇫🇲 for short).
