Hi John, I have this lens and use it on my A68 - so it effectively zooms up to 600mm.Mounted on my monopod I find it great for shooting wildlife, although I find AF at full zoom frustrating.
The lens hood does a good job, but is prone to getting knocked off when walking through the woods.

I had the older Sony 70-400 G Lens (silver) and together with my Sony a55 camera it makes brilliant photos. IMHO one of the best tele-zoom lenses on the market.

A very accurate review...Good job! This is certainly a good lens. Ive had mine for a couple of months now, and I've had some fantastic results. For me the biggest bonus is it's speed. But as you say in your review, bokeh is untidy and the lens is not weather sealed!!!!.... Very frustrating, considering i live in the UK!! For the hefty price tag i would not upgrade from the Mk1.

Hey JS, I am considering getting this lens to work on my A7 III, with the adapter, how well do you think it will perform. Do allow me to bother you with another question. If I use the 2x Teleconverte on my 70-200mm, at 400mm how well would the images be compared to this lens at 400mm. In other words except for the stop or two loss of light, how good will the images be? I know your answers may be somewhat speculative but I trust your insights. Thanks in advance and "Let the Sol Glow." Hey, have you seen "Coming to America II" yet? I liked it.
