The best one is the one that works for you, not necessarily the baddest most expensive hood. I can weld a 6G tig pipe while standing on my head with a Harbor Freight hood on. It’s all in the weldor hands, not the hood. As long as you can see, you can weld.

I got both of my hoods from outlaw leather. I love both of them. My pocket hood gets me out of a bind, especially when you’re making a real critical weld. The main one I use is my custom flip hood, down side to the hood on the all the way left of his table is that their pretty heavy when you have it on a halo for a hard hat. But you get used to it. All those hoods are awesome to have.

My everyday hood is a radnor 2x4 that I bought when I started welding. Just one of those simple filters you can slide in any hood. Since seeing these pancake hoods they would be super nice when outside!

I’ve been using the same welding hood for a while now luckily, thanks to this video. I finally found out a new one to get

Just really starting welding. In school right now. Really a big fan of the miller helmet I got. Nothing too fancy, but it’s a nice helmet and it performs well. Maybe down the line it won’t be quite what I need, but for now it’s very nice.

I use an optrel panoramaxx clt because im a welder fabricator in a shop and that thing is on my head all day long and it has a nice wide viewing range to see all the weird angles i need to weld on.

Will say the Lincoln Viking 2x4 auto lense is pretty dang good I enjoy using 8010 with the lense

That pocket hood is pretty slick. I need to make myself one of those.

Here in Europe we mostly use Speedglass, with the air filtration system,

I’ve got an outlaw, 2 Jackson hoods, and a Miller elite. All in all, I’d take the outlaw leather or my miller

My first hood was a esab and it's a great hood but the lens is your entire face and it melts and most definitely not for like pipe welding ir anything like that. It's really light which I love but my second hood was a miller infinity and it has a nice wide viewing area but 1 it's so heavy and 2 it's big and bulky. I just got a chopped outlaw and I absolutely love it. Super light weight and I switched out the head gear and sweat band and the locks on the side and was cheaper then any auto darking hoods and also blows away anything these hoods can do. I also went from production welding to a union so it truly depends on what your getting into.

The pancake is the most comfortable I’d have to say

I got a sentinel, for free. Best hood I ever used, have to say being able to see before you start the weld is perfect. However when I first learned on stick used your old traditional hood. Either way as long as you get the job done, nd done right. Your 💯

I prefer a good tiger hood myself mainly because of the flip up lens. I just bought a chopped one with leather from WeldTube that's similar to the ones from Outlaw leather. Gonna see how she does for a while.
