For a while I understood keeping toys in boxes for collection purposes, but now I just feel like it’s a waste of joy. Just enjoy opening and playing with them, who cares if it could be worth a couple more bucks in a decade or two

Or, just think about it. Get more shelving. If you can spend $650 on sets, you can spend $50 getting shelves.

Get them open and get building mate, I’m not bothered about the boxes as I’m never going to sell my collection, but you definitely need to open and enjoy 😊

I love how these people are so obsessed about keeping them in box. I had all these "rare" sets as a kid and had so much fun playing with them, seeing them left in the box is just depressing

I think I like the older ones better because back when I was little I would always look at the other sets at the back of the box that you could buy.

For my boxes I like to use the principle of russian matroschka figures. Put the smaler box in the next biger one and so on.

I miss the really old boxes with the flip open tops and separate bins. That way you could take the sets apart and put them back to build again at another time.

I just open any set I get. I like seeing the model and I’m not fussed on how that affects the value.

I just hope they never get rid of paper instructions. I don't want to have to use technology to build a set

You fiddle your knife between the opening, turn it so that the glue connection loosens but the side lids do not tear and you simply fold the box forward. easy. but many didn't do this but used the thumb holes I think

I don't think the folding matters, if anything is a problem because I'd only keep the box for not opening as a collectable, or open and use for storage later for those Legos.

the big nostalgia for me was the cardboard smell that came from opening a new Lego box. So if that's maintained with the new boxes, I'm happy.
