We had this record. I loved this song & it brings tears to my eyes for all those we lost in the Viet Nam War. It hit home when I watched the black car pull up in front of Leo George’s house to tell his mother he wouldn’t be coming home. I’ll never forget the screams I heard from Mrs George. My late husband was a Marine in that horrible war. He suffered for years from his wounds. Our Armed Forces pay the ultimate sacrifice. God bless & keep them.

I am very thankful for all you who served.My grandfather served in WW1, he came back. My uncle served in WW2 So sad he did not come back .Thankyou to him and all who served. Will we ever see their like again? God bless you all

I went to our town hall when around 1968 John Wayne and the Green Berets was playing . That movie left an impression on all of us . My three oldest brothers all enlisted and served in combat in Vietnam . Praise God they all came home . I’m 64 and have been listening to this song ever since .

I remember being 12 years old and coming into our living room and my newly married sister sitting at the piano playing this song and tears coming down her cheeks. Her husband was in Vietnam for a second tour. She was missing him and crying. James Gary Witt spent 21 years in the Army, three years Vietnam. Gary went to be with the Lord Nov 2009. Still love & miss you my brother. So does the rest of the family that is still here. Hope the military that read this, asks Jesus to forgive their sins. Gary would love to meet you in heaven one day! My dad was WWII and would love to greet you there also!!
