Cassie (Rosemarie DeWitt, La La Land) is a real estate agent and single mom struggling to keep it all together during the housing crisis of 2009. Her problems go from bad to worse when disgruntled client Sonny (Danny McBride, Pineapple Express) violently confronts Cassie’s boss and then kidnaps Cassie – making one outrageously bad, and bloody, decision after another. Things completely spiral out of control in this explosive action comedy, also starring Luke Wilson (Idiocracy), Kaitlin Olson (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), David Alan Grier (“The Carmichael Show”) and Elizabeth Gillies (“Dynasty”).

This movie got terrible reviews on rotten tomatoes. Please do not take rotten tomatoes serious, they are a joke. This movie is very entertaining.

Danny friggin McBride. Haha! I love this guy. He plays the antagonist who continually kills more and more people to cover up a single mistake (that happened to have turned deadly). We aren't supposed to like him, but his amazing delivery had me laughing all the way through.
This was an odd...ODD movie, and yet a real crowd pleaser. The audience I was sitting with were howling with laughter and shouting. The main causal element was probably because it was the LAST film showing this year (it started at 11:45pm). We were all stupid tired, and deeply wanting to cheer the 2018 Sundance Film Festival as a whole. I'm sure it was a bunch of things, but it all made for an epic way to end the festival!

I admire this film for trying. It's extremely inconsistent, but I do like it.
While wildly inconsistent, Arizona attempts making a commentary on the housing crash of 2009 and the ultimate message of how we ourselves are to blame for some situations. That said, it also attempts to illustrate at a higher level of privilege that dire situations arose. So, in turn one can infer that on the lower rungs of the ladder it was even worse. I admire films that try and fall short. This is one of those. It never overstays its welcome. There are at least two genuinely good jokes that pertain to the larger commentary and Danny McBride is really good in this. The man can act. I feel like a lot of critics see this film as average and that's not a wrong perspective, but similarly to how Funny Games (US) got flak I think that Arizona gets a little too much criticism. This isn't Funny Games, don't get me wrong. It's not close, but it is a very on-the-nose criticism via dark comedy about consumerism. I am more than okay with more films about this. Arizona is worth at least one watch. I just wish Arizona would have some better cinematography and writing. There is one particular scene at the end that goes nowhere, but part of me suspects that's the point. I just wish it would have added to the conflict resolution.
