I finally read Twilight for the first time || Book review

I’m super late to this (15 years late) but this is my book review of Twilight! I was pleasantly surprised with this but I always seem to enjoy things that others would probably consider bad. Another thing I forgot to mention was how silly and cheesy I think the movies are, they are just really fun to watch with friends and not take seriously.

The series is perfect. This comes from a 51 year old man from the UK. Yes, it’s soppy, silly and camp but it is nothing less than entertaining and romantic. You have to be dead inside not to enjoy it.

I’m currently reading it for the first time and really like it too! It gets so much flack but at the end of the day it’s not supposed to be a great piece of literature. I also find Bella quite relatable

I’ve just finished the first book after loving the films for years and I’ve never felt so complete.

I’m currently reading twilight and OMG!!! I absolutely love it! A lot of people were saying the books were better than the movies and OH BOY! They were right!!!

Ever since Midnight sun came out I’ve really started to understand Edward and why he had horrible mood swings! It’s because deep down in his point of view he’s riddled with anxiety and guilt about being what he is and how he feels towards others! He’s just a very angry person I feel like, I mean, spoiler alert: he literally very early on in the book thought about committing a mass murder when Bella enters the room bc she smells SO good.

Twilight is from Bella's perspective. And it becomes really apparent what kind of person she is: responsible, selfless and nurturing. (Also lacking good sense of self preservation, but there had to be a flaw) and it rarely happens that such a kind of person is appreciated and celebrated instead of criticized all the time. Stephanie Meyer gives it a shot. Kudos to her!

I've only decided to read the Twilight series for the first time this year, and to be honest, it is now one of my comfort series! I enjoyed the books so much, too much, even, to the point where now I'm sad because I've read everything. I am starting again as soon as I get my first copy back 😘😊

I just started listening to the twilight audio book last month and I was surprised by how it good it really is!
I was also around 10 - 11 when twilight peaked so I was also among those who hated twilight for no reason because everyone else did.
I got hooked after the first book and kept going! The books never failed to entertain <3
I feel like I missed out and am only having my twilight phase now

20 year old guy and I just finished the first book after my aunt bugged me about it, and I absolutely fell in love with it.

I’m not the one for cheesy romances, but I couldn’t help but smile anytime Edward and Bella held an upbeat, silly conversation.

Guys, don’t let gender-stereotypes dictate your opinion on this book series. Really phenomenal work. Looking forward to reading the rest!

I'm glad a reviewer actually defends the flaws of the characters rather than using it as a criticism of the book. Flawed characters don't mean they're bad ones. Quite the opposite in fact.

I think stories and characters are boring when they don't have flaws because flaws give them an actual character arc. And Twilight characters are as flawed as you can get while still being essentially good people. And that's a part of what makes it fun, at least as long as you don't take it too seriously (ie as long as you don't start patterning your behavior from these characters). It's a guilty pleasure so long as you enjoy it for what it is.

I agree with you on everything honestly. The book was amazing and I noticed after reading it and analyzing it that Edward changed a little. He was way more harsh in the beginning but at the end he watered down. I am very over protective over the books because half of the people that have said it’s bad haven’t read the books. The book could have been better in many ways but doesn’t change the fact that it IS good.

Wonderful video :D I had my twilight phase late-ish too, and have sustained it for a while now (currently 24). They're total comfort books for me, and I love getting lost in their story and characters, and distracting myself from wherever is stressing me in daily life. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I can't wait to watch your other videos :D (also, I recommend the official illustrated guide - bought it as a guilty pleasure sort of thing but am loving it) :)

I like to watch the first 1st movie of each book series to get the hang of the books, and then stop watching those other movies in the series till I finish reading the series :)

I am so glad I found your video. I wanted to read Twilight for a long time. But I have just now started reading .. When I thought I was ready for it, all my teachers started talking sh*t about the book and i decided not to go for it all. When I was younger, LIKE Very very young around 10 or 11..i discovered the movies and fell in love with them in a way which made me CRAZY for the franchise. I relate to you when you mentioned that harry Potter vs twilight divide media created and i agree that it was Harry Potter fans who disliked twilight and compared it unnecessarily with Stephanie Meyers' work. Even my elder sister used to taunt me for loving twilight and always compared Harry Potter as a superior franchise. I am turning 20 this January. I am a potterhead. But twilight is something which stayed with me all this time. It stayed with me for a long long while and worked as a mode of escapism while growing up. Now I feel embarrassed to mention that i like twilight or even when I feel like watching the movie, I feel like I shouldn't.. Or maybe judged. I don't know. I played the movie just now and i didn't know I would feel like this but as soon as I heard the first line,  "I'd never given much thought to how I would die. But dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go." ... Oh boy... Everything came back like it never left. I decided to purchase the book and opened Amazon and was about to order but I felt like I shouldn't do that because of how bad people say twilight really is. Then I searched for this video and found you. I am so glad I did. I am going forward to get this book. I don't care. I loved Twilight. It carries a part of me which no one else can ever see.

Twilight was one of the first books I read. Today, I read Dostoievski, Grass, Homer and Cervantes. But I just re-read twilight and I think I discovered new things, deeper things. Of course is not perfect, but is a really good book, and i feel like a teenager again when I read it. Specially because my first girlfriend was really similar to Bella.

A bit late to this one but what a great review! This series has been with me for many years and I’ll always have a very nostalgic adoration for it. It makes me sad that people automatically dislike it without actually reading it, just because of how the media discusses it.

Omg I am also 20, hated Twilight because it was cool as a Potterhead but got into Twilight last month and I'm OBSESSED... And as you said, when I was her age I was like Bella in Twilight and New Moon so yup it's definitely realistic but toxic.😅
