This pen is $650

Is this too expensive for a pen?

I know this gets lost on a lot of people, but for people who collect pens, at this price point it’s not all about the ability to write. It can be about the legacy and prestige of the brand—that’s a Montblanc. It can also be about the materials used, some pens have 14k, 18k, or 21k nibs others are made of precious stones and metals. For others, it can be about the artistry behind the pen, like Urushi or Maki-e pens from Japan. So yeah, from a pure writing standpoint it’s not worth 650 times more, but for fine writing instruments it really goes beyond than just writing, it’s a myriad of things and factors.

“It’s smoother but it’s not 650 times smoother” implies that all 1$ of a pen purchase is made exclusively for pen smoothness when, in reality, I think most of us pay somewhere around 70 cents for its function, 25 cents for its appearance, and at most 5 cents for perceived pen smoothness.

But for most people watching who are probably on the lower economic end of things, no, not even remotely

It is increasing in quality, just not as quickly as the price is

BRO MONTBLANC IS A -FOUNTAIN PEN SPECIALTY- MANUFACTURER AND YOU BOUGHT A BALL POINT. FOR THAT PRICE, ON THAT PEN, YOU COULD HAVE HAD A NUMBER 7 GOLD NIB AND YOU BOUGHT A FRICKING BALL POINT. I have never been so disappointed in my life. He didn't even do his research on the prestige of the brand and what it means to own such a thing. The litteral bands and clip are a gold substrate and bro bought a ball point. It's your money but honestly, a far superior writing experience was to be had with a variety of different inks. He could have had a custom nib grind or some of the specialty broad or double brown nibs TAYLORED to YOUR writing.😢😢😢😫😫😫😫😫😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
