Today we observe Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery for Black Americans in Texas in 1865. Also known as Freedom Day, Emancipation Day, Liberation Day and Jubilee Day, Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and independence as Black Americans reflect on the past and the future.
