Personally season 1 has a special charm because you don't know what's happening so you are figuring it out with the characters which makes it much scarier, I remember watching this scene and had no idea what was going on lol

I love this scene because it shows the strength and determination of a mother's love for her child. Joyce is doubted by everyone around her, including Jonathan, but she won't give up on what she believes to be true: Will is communicating with her. It's exactly how I know my mom would act and how I would feel towards my child. Winona Ryder's acting is so fierce and devoted in this scene and shows this side of parenthood: doing whatever it takes for your kids.

Winona Ryder's performance was the factor in the show, that really pulled me into the story. I craved to see more scenes with her because her performance was just so good.

Joyce, is one of best modern examples of a fantastically well written female character, right alongside the likes of Ellen Ripley, and Sarah Connor. Though she doesn't pick up a gun or flame thrower, you know Joyce would do anything to protect and defend those who she loves, using her maternal instincts as a mother as her greatest strengths.
