We really do have some of the best comedies in the world. Al the ones on this list the original Porridge, Dads Army, The Brittas Empire Good Night Sweethart and so many others is one of the only things about being British I can be proud about these days.

As a non-Brit, I’m surprised by how many shows on this list I grew up watching. I absolutely loved Allo Allo as a kid, although I missed much of the humor

Edit: the end of Blackadder Goes Forth is just heartbreaking.

This American lived over there during the 80s and totally fell in love with British comedy. It was the perfect time to be there.

'Allo 'Allo and Red Dwarf are two of my favorite shows ever. Found them on late night on PBS in the 90s and fell instantly in love with them, Brittas Empire and Are you being served as well.

Blackadder's first series is so poor that it's bizarre it was given a second series. When it's shown on Gold, s1 is completely omitted.

God, there were so many great comedies at this time! I grew up on the Young Ones, blackadderand Red Dwarf. You’d be pushed to come up with a top 3 of the best sitcoms of the past 10 years. Surprised and glad Only Fools and Horses wasn’t number 1, I don’t think it’s bad but I don’t think it’s as amazing as a lot of people do.

Only Fools and Horses is easily #1, I love Blackadder but you have to be in the right mood for it whereas you can watch Only Fools anytime and it never gets old.

having grown up on our public television station airing BritCom's on Saturday Nights along with 2 episodes of Monty Python before signing off, I adjusted to "The Young Ones" quite easily

I remember Boswell's mistress being derisively referred to by Mrs. Boswell as "Lilo Lil".

'Yes, Minister' and 'Yes Prime Minister' aren't comedies; they're factual documentaries. LOL.

"'Allo 'Allo" is one of my favourites.

Is it just me, or does Bread have a noticeable similarity to Shameless somehow? Bread and Keep It In The Family are the only ones I never got to see in the US.
