USS Stringham - DD-83 (Destroyer)

USS Stringham (DD-83/APD-6) served as a Wickes-class destroyer in World War I and was later a high-speed transport in World War II. She played a role in convoy escort and antisubmarine duty during WWI. After recommissioning in 1940, Stringham escorted coastal convoys along the eastern seaboard and served in various Pacific operations during WWII. She supported the Guadalcanal campaign and participated in missions across the Pacific. After sustaining damage and undergoing repairs, she was converted back to a destroyer and decommissioned in 1945. Stringham received multiple awards for her service during both World Wars.
