Just listened to the album before finding you review. Man, what a strong record - very cool. Regarding vocals, I had some nice associations with the latest A Perfect Circle and Katatonia. I love how they venture into new sound scapes while still delivering these massive riffs - "stoic" is a nice word you used. Nice review, keep it up :)

This album is great! It took me a while to get ito it (3 listens or so), but with it being minmialist, it makes the heavy moments that much more impactful, and Unconfirmities is simpy a haunting, beautiful song! I also want to shout out the band A Horrible Death to a Horrible man who dropped their debut album, Days Gone By on May 19 as well. It's a nice comapnion piece to Holocene as it is just a beautiful album that is allowed to breathe and reminds me a lot of the shoegaze elements of Astronoid mixed with one of my favourite mellower bands, Junius.

Yay! I shall check this one out. I liked the last two albums very much. Fun fact, I discovered the Ocean via a work colleague who was their vocalist/bass player for a number of years. We bonded over a love of Meshuggah, Pantera and Crowbar. Looking forward to your take on A7X. Super interesting album! I'm very receptive to drumming so I think you're definitely onto something with the excellent drumming here.

This album gives me a bit of a trip hop vibe (Massive Attack, Portishead etc), really cool!

I'm loving this record rn, moreso than the latest Sleep Token album (although I am enjoying that too). I think you worded it perfectly, it's relatively minimalistic, but still highly ambitious.

I recently started from the beginning of the series and listened all the way through and I’m certain this album references all the other albums in some form or another.
Even if I’m wrong, I love this album as an end to the epic collection the ocean has created

i enjoyed it is a calmer affair but I don't mind when the music is this good. That track with Karin Price was my standout track. I had to listen to album repeat listens to talk about it.

I've heard it once, somewhat disappointed but will obviously listen more and I'm sure it will grow on me.
Nothing here touches like a "Jurassic | Cretaceous" though, that much is clear to me xD
