ABOUT THE LIFE OF DRIFFILL
WILLIAM RALPH DRIFFILL was born the son of William Driffill and Mary Potter.
His father ran a plumbing business in Dunstable.
Driffill graduated successfully from the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1890 with medals for his playing and composition.
From 1901 to 1916, Driffill was organist at St Mary the Virgin Parish Church in Monken Hedley, Hertfordshire.
He also had private pupils and choirs and accompanied choirs and gave concerts, including his own compositions.
Driffill performed mainly in the south of England and was regularly accompanied by his nephew Frederick Gostelow.
In 1908, William Ralph Driffill married Kate Prior.
Hymns, liturgical music and some unfinished manuscripts by Driffill have also survived.
