I think it depends on how much you care and your level of interest in your hobby. There’s an enjoyable aspect to being a collector where your spending time searching for something special, going on the hunt to different locations, the patience and humility you learn from taking losses and the gratification of being able to find your size, coming across something that a friend has been searching for or vice versa and the joy of not getting taxed on the price. I won’t criticize anyone who shops this way instead for their own personal reasons but it wouldn’t give me that same feeling.
