This mans chord and scale vocabulary was amazing, as was his ability to apply it on the hoof, with split second timing. Joe was one of the greatest guitarists and jazz musicians ever, no contest!

@Squigglyjoe; Utterly agree; I took a master class from him at Idaho State Uni -1981 and it was almost entirely intuitively-oriented. I never played a note; just sat and took as much in as I was capable of. He was the REAL THING, if Jazz is must be defined as intuitive and inspirational. He has a true link to Django in that respect alone but has never had anything but his own voice. -And how many guitarists could hold their own with the mighty Oscar Peterson, as Joe did often and magnificently?
