One Piece Card Grading: PSA versus BGS: Which is better value?

Excellent video. I'm doing my first ever batch of grading next month needed to hear this breakdown. I have one or two special cards I want to try for a black label but will just do PSA for all the rest.

I think bgs is better for many reasons. One most people go to psa cause they are more lenient with 10s and they aren’t as harsh on grades so bgs 10 is more accurate. Two bgs has sub grades which is nice. Three bgs has the potential for a black label. Four I think bgs slabs look better. And five it is too my understanding that bgs is the only company that uses UV protection on their slabs. Also just a little constructive criticism, your pronouncing manga wrong. The best way I can show you how it’s pronounced is monga.

This is what I been screaming to everyone into one piece and is like bgs is king! Black label!, and I'm like no! It's such a gamble when psa is like almost garenteed 10s!

I never seen a psa 10 sell for more than a bgs 10

I think your rational is fine…but over time if a psa 10 gem rate is over 95%…wouldn’t that become the norm and bring down the market value. Right now yes the resale value is high for a psa, but over time that will saturate the market. Coming from a sportscard collectors perspective, a psa 10 is the standard for the hobby..but a Black BGS 10 in the hobby is a unicorn. So any collector crossing over will want a black 10 and pay the premium for the black 10. That is not a sound long term investment strategy to have a 95% gem rate and still get high ROI. Plus Beckett won’t upcharge you if you get a Black BGS 10.

It's not a gamble with bgs it's graded with more scrutiny hence why they are worth more psa give tens to cards that should be 8s or 9s lower standards that's why people flock to psa

If you KNOW you’re not getting a BGS 10, then go with psa
