The chilling story of Theodore Kaczynski, infamously known as the Unabomber, is a tale of intellectual prowess twisted into a spree of terrifying violence. Over a harrowing 18-year period, Kaczynski orchestrated a series of mail bomb attacks targeting individuals he deemed responsible for the proliferation of destructive modern technologies. This campaign of fear claimed 3 lives and left 23 people gravely injured.

Once hailed as a mathematics prodigy, Kaczynski turned his back on academia, retreating into a primitive lifestyle. His transition from a passive environmental anarchist to an actively violent perpetrator can be traced back to an unsettling chapter of his past...

In the spring of 1959, as a second-year student at Harvard University, Kaczynski found himself unwittingly caught in a whirlwind of psychological abuse. He took part in a notorious experiment that sought to delve into the human psyche's breaking point, examining the impact of humiliation and psychic deconstruction...

2:15 The connection between Kaczynski and the psychological torture he received might be more easily reached if it were known that Ted was only 15 at the time of these tests. The fact that he was a minor didn't seem to bother "the ethics of the era" either. So very sad.

That last one was vicious. All were incredibly frightening. Sadly we’re all subjected to various traumas, points of view, generational trauma, extreme experiences, prejudice, etc., which alter and shape a raw clay at a young age.

Messing with the human psyche is an extremely unwise idea - often with disastrous consequences.

The second story is pretty interesting and scary. I dated a girl for a short while some years ago who I came to find out took medication for schizophrenia. Even though I knew she was on medication, I never once saw her do or say anything that implied to me she had any kind of psychological disorder and I privately wondered if she had been misdiagnosed. She trusted her doctor though so she didn't question it for years. We remained friends after we stopped seeing each other, and I kept in touch with her. About a year after we stopped dating she apparently went to a different doctor who correctly assessed that she did not need medication and was not schizophrenic at all. Lo and behold, he took her off the meds and she has been 100% fine ever since.

There is something strangely comforting and relaxing about the narrators voice of these videos. Sometimes I’ll play these videos when I’m trying to go to sleep. His monotone voice and delivery calms me. Thank you for the free sedative.😊

To quote Tom Waits, there is one thing you can say about mankind is there is nothing kind about man.

Wow, emotional abuse does lasting damage to children? I would never have guessed. 🤬

Kaczynski was a ferocious intellectual, and, in fact, completely correct in his assessments of industrialized societies.
He was only wrong because he became violent and psychopathic. And he was completely wrong in that sense.

We all know why, but Dr. John Money’s experiments on the Reimer twins should be on this list. Should be number 1, too.

RE The 'Bobo Experiment';
I found it sad, and rather telling, that the folks have had concerns for a long time now about things like 'video nasties' - and more recently the effects of 'violent video games' - yet there is still almost no mention of the ramifications of witnessing or being the victim of real violence at home, and how it can effect those children negatively for the rest of their lives.
This conduit of generational trauma is so widespread, yet few seem to want to admit that it even exists.

"Don't tell me how to raise my kids, buddy!" seems tragically far more important to society than the message of "You can break the cycle of abuse as an adult, if you just choose to". That you don't have to put another innocent child through what you went through as a similarly innocent child.

I wish more would find the courage to break the generational abuse and trauma cycle.

That sleep deprivation experiment was big talk in the 70s when I was young. The comedy TV show Laverne and Shirley had an episode where 2 of the cast participated in a sleep deprivation experiment because it paid $50. Every time someone started to doze off in the room, the doctors would smack this really loud buzzer to wake them up 😂

honestly surprised Ray lasted 11 days, I manage 8 in one stretch and started to hallucinate and finally sat down in a decently comfortable chair and was gone. The monster study infuriates me, I was born with a stutter, it took years of speech therapy for me to learn to control it and it still comes out when my stress levels are high. Not to mention the long-term impact on my self-confidence after being mocked ruthlessly as a child since kids can be cruel. To inflict that on children purposefully, monster isnt a strong enough adjective.

If you think these are bad, just imagine what they're doing right now.

Never knew that about Kazinski. Stanford and Harvard have done so much damage in the pursuit of knowledge

So many of these “experiments” can be answered with simple common sense. Of course violence is bad for kids, in fact for all people, sleep deprivation has negative implications, etc etc

Wow! This was an amazing video and I hadn't heard of most of these. It sheds a lot more light on Ted. I can't believe such a bright mind as his was wasted :(

Edit: That last experiment was awful. I can't believe such terrible sh!t like that was ever allowed. Makes me sad to think about the experiments that we will probably never know about. Those poor kids.

The Unabomber was something out of a comic book supervillain origin story

The second experiment reminds me of when I was in high school and had to spend a week in the psych ward. There was nothing wrong with me, I had expressed to a guidance counselor sadness and troubles at home and was sent to the hospital and if my parents refused to take me, they would call CPS. I spent a week with people who heard voices, lashed out with violence, people who had attempted suicide etc. I even had a girl tell me she wanted to stab me while I was sleeping just because. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life, "being sane in an insane place" is the best way I could describe it. I was beginning to question my own sanity on why I was there. Thankfully after 7 days I was back home and back to normal. While I was there, I met a girl my age who had been there for 6 months because the hospital couldn't reach out to any guardians that she could be released to since she was a minor. So, she was just trapped in there. This was in 2015. We are still a long way from understanding mental health and properly treating it in my opinion. Every teenager experiences some form of sadness or depression. But these days they are so quick to try and "treat" normal human behavior with medication or therapy. I had no thoughts of self-harm or suicide, but I had to go through this because and over cautious guidance counselor at school.

Honestly, the bobo doll one is more manufacturing a desired result than a controlled unbiased experiment. They showed kids how to behave with the doll(because kids are taught to obey adults) and then told any other toys are for other kids to play with. And then when given the choice, the kids play with the toy they were told they could play with, in the manner they were shown how to play with it. Hardly a result to draw any serious conclusions from
