To clarify when I say black ash is "bad" I mean will not smoke as good as it's white ash counter part. I don't mean bad for you or anything. maybe i'll make a follow up haha

This makes no sense whatsoever if you actually know why the ash is white. So let me explain, think of a campfire, if you have a small, low burning campfire, most likely in the morning you will be left with mostly black ash and chunks, that’s because some of the carbon in the wood didn’t get burned and got left as charcoal. Now let’s say you instead had a large, hot campfire, by the morning, you will be left with fine white ash because all the carbon got burned away. Now let’s apply this to cannabis, usual d9 THC will always have a boiling point between 320 °F and 380 °F. Regular cannabis will burn at 450 ° F, so no matter what the color of the ash is, it’s practically guaranteed that there is no THC left in the ash, black ash just signals an incomplete burn of all the carbon compounds in the plant, not an incomplete burn of the THC itself

White ash = full combustion, black Ash =resinous or maybe Bad weed but its not an indicator. PS the white hasch of tobacco is due to chemical

Black ash is simply showing that the bud contains a lot of chemicals that were not properly flushed from the plant before harvesting, this doesn't mean that the flower has no potency or taste altough the taste won't be as clean. On the otherhand white ash is a properly flushed plant but like Drew said, this won t determine if the flower is actually good but it's just a sign that it might be.

Simple answer. No, if you wanna get high. Weed with black ash is gonna work 9/10 more than perfectly. If you want to smoke premium bud, if you’re prepared to pay the price for it, and barely see any difference, then look for something with white ash.

Ash has little to do with the factors at play in a good smoke. All this talk about flushing making a white ash is bro science at best. I'm a 30 yr old farmer with years of experience in this field, growing organically without flushing and the ash is the last thing I look at while gauging potency.

Personally I believe the color of ash whether it be white or black has to do with how it was dried and the remaining moisture content of the bud. With that being said, you can gauge the quality of dry well before its even lit.

White ash is smoke temp if you proper toke a joint the temp of the head of the joint will be a lot higher and in turn creates white ash as it’s more clean burning where as if you are just casually smoking a joint and it’s almost going out between draws it will produce black ash cause of lower temps the whole white and black ash started with cigars it used to be a way to tell if the cigars are clean and burning right but for some reason people think cigars and joint same thing so must work for both when it doesn’t

I definetely agree. I live in amsterdam and treat myself to some decent quality bud. They always taste way better than cheaper alternatives. The main difference between the two was the color of the ash. White ash is better

Lol certain buds carry way more orange hairs this leads to the ash burning abit darker long as it’s been flushed & cured correctly will taste fire regardless some “well most” the top shelf uk i buy blows some Cali out the Water Taste & hits like a Train as I have a Source who smokes himself and Grows for the Passion not Money so I know every Strain I get from him is gonna be 10/10 Nugs no Leaf just Lovely Dank Smelly Bud. “Just because your buying Cali for £130 a Hen” don’t mean it’s the best bud in town iv literally smoked Some shitty outdoor and Was fried out jug out my head! Never judge a Book by its cover or smell moral of the story.

The white ash black ash thing is all nonsense, I constantly dispel this rumour

Typically it is dependant on how it is smoked (every notice that different type of rolling papers leave a different colour ash, not to mention the inside or ‘front’ of the joint will only show the true ash colour of the bud

The method and duration of lighting also affect it

Their is no black ash = bad, white ash = good tho

White ash is one component of it, more determination comes from is the ash hard, gritty, sticky, lumpy, soft, smooth, velvety, does it stain your skin or not.
If you roll the same every time then noticing these differences is an indication of the product not the rolling process

White ash is supposed to signify the bud is clean .

White ash/lighter coloured ash usually is an indicator of higher quality bud.

When i say that i mean the flushing process, and that that proccess was done nicely.
Flushing done nicely = higher quality
(Yeah genetics play a huge part in that aswell but flushing is VERY VERY IMPORTANT)
Nicely enough to get the nutrients out and have the ash indicate such.

For those who would like to know,
The flushing process of growing is when you are watering the plant normally and just dont feeding it anymore.

So in turn you slowly let the plant take up the nutrients it needs while also washing those same nutrients out at the same time over 4-5 weeks of time depending on the strain and how people like it.
(With either more amber or less amber trichomes)

(Fyi, The amber trichomes have more CBN and CBN gives you a couchlock feel more akin to indica.. and after aging to a certain point, those amber trichomes even burst and leak resin which helps in making buds feel more sticky.)

But yeah.
Id say yes, me personally.. as a grower and smoker.
And i respectfully disgree with this green haired fellow but i like his content and would like to see him learn a bit more and spread a bunch more knowledge instead of ignorance..

Also also, ash has another way of letting you know if your buds were flushed properly.
You can actually feel the difference if you dont already taste it.

Feel the ashes of a lighter burning plant... And then feel the ashes of a darker burning plant.
Youll actually be able to FEEL certain nutrients that havent combusted all the way and are left behind.
Its like a little gritty feel within the overall smoothness of the ash itself.
And no its not just barely burned weed. This is ash. Full ash. And you feel a clear difference between the two.

Which, when you think about it with Drew's mindset, it shouldnt be.
Because ash is ash. Its like a car engine.
But thats just not the case.

And im not just some know it all.
I dont mean ti come off like that, cause i know tone is hard to be conveyed through text, but i actually care about this stuff and love to share what ive come to know so others can know it and benefit how ive benefited.

Its passion not anger.
Genuine passion.

To me average weed (potency, smell, look) with white ash is better than perfectly looking weed with hella trichomes and terpy smell but black ash...

some of the highest experiences ive had have come from weed with black/gray ash. maybe quality wasnt as high but if thats what you can get. it is what it is.

As a connesesuir, white Ash generally means clean bud that has been cured and flushed properly. Also organic nutrients help create the clean white Ash. Dark Ash means nutrients still in bud, possibly toxic chemical, not cured properly, harsh on throat and lacking taste.
