The LSB is Getting A Premium Study Bible?

FYI: I have been educated and learned that economy editions are not what I believe they are. I have always thought hardbacks and fake leathers were economy bibles. Instead they are supposedly super cheap paperbacks with glued bindings. I concede, but at the same time stand my ground…

With all that said, the LSB is getting the Thomas Nelson treatment y’all! It will have a goatskin, genuine leather, leathersoft, and hardback (aka the official Nickels Worth definition of economy edition) option! Wooottttt!!

I actually DO NOT believe John MacArthur thinks women should “sit down, shut up, and iron shirts.” I figured that comment would be so ridiculous people would know it to be hyperbolic. I used it to bring levity to the fact that we have differing views on women in ministry and their authority in churches. Keep calm and Jesus on.

Just got a copy in hard cover LSB Bible as a Gift from Grace To You!! And was so happy when I opened the box, actually hugged it and thanked God because it came at the perfect moment, going through a furnace trial. Please pray for me, God knows the need.

Agree with you on JMac, he is SUPER controversial. But you know what is funny Tim? I respect him a lot for standing his ground too, that's probably what I like most about him - that he holds firm to the strength of his convictions. Even though I'm all the way on the other end of the spectrum - I'm Charismatic and I support women in Ministry - as long as it's in a healthy balance with the men. (That will look different for different denominations). But I like to learn from a variety of perspectives and I don't get easily triggered by differences unless they are really extreme like Mormons or some Catholic doctrines but that's a whole other topic LOL

I recommend checking out Mike Winger’s series on women in ministry, if you haven’t already. I think there is a lot of valuable material in there to digest!

I agree with you completely regarding the roles of women in the church. As to John MacArthur, I disagree with many of his positions however, I do respect that he stands by his convictions.

I think JM only says women should not be in the pulpit or pastor. Outside of that I haven’t heard him say anything to the contrary, which can be found in scripture.

I agree with you on pretty much everything you said. I’m no fan of MacArthur, I think unfortunately there’s a bit of a cult of personality around him, and I strongly disagree with his stance on the gifts. But I definitely want to get a copy of the LSB in the near future, it’s one of the only modern translations I do not have.

I'm not a huge fan of John MacArthur in recent years but I enjoy his Study Bible (though I disagree with a lot of the notes in it). I think this is a great move for LSB to make the MSB their first Study Bible, because it serves justice to the overall spirit of the LSB Project. I would love to see them also take the Crossway route and do some original Study Bibles, both niche and broad appeal. Another general Study Bible that would be on par with the ESV Study Bible would be great, the Study Bibles released after the ESVSB (the ones that were to be direct competitors of it at least) were mostly lackluster despite a few standouts. I'd love to see them bring the ESVSB team back together and get Schreiner, Grudem, Packer, etc. Would love to see the inclusions of Iain Duguid, Grant Osborne, and maybe a few continationists in there like Merida. Likely what we will end up seeing is another SB written entirely by Master's faculty, but I'd definitely buy that. Steve Swartz is pastoring out here in Bakersfield CA and I love reading his material, though I no longer sit under his teaching. It also wouldn't be bad if they put together a 1689 LBC focused Study Bible, there's no shortage of living guys that could throw one of those together.

We should always be respectful. For me I support women as bishops and reverends but I understand those that have different views and respect them. I believe there is also a JMac Study Bible in the NIV.
