What Really Happened at Little Big Horn Custers Last Stand ?

The year was 1876, following years of broken treaties by the white man culminating with General Custer trying to establish a military fort upon the discovery of GOLD. Great news thought pioneer settlers 3 years after the PANIC DEPRESSION of 1873. Ditto for Custer, looking to regain his reputation after showing distinguished heroism during the Confederate War, only to have later been busted during a Court Marshall for taking his troop AWOL for an unauthorized trip so he could see his beloved wife. Ambitious to quickly regain his stature as a war hero leader, General Custer jumps in to battle with the Native Americans (aka Indians) before reinforcements arrived. But he didn't figure the natives 2,000 fierce warriors were not about to forfeit their land granted by the two treaties signed by the United States government . And now we better understand the term "Indian Giver"

Outstanding Interpreter !! And the fact that his Grandfather was a Crow Scout with Custer made it even better to listen to him. Only wish they could have panned camera to the areas he was discussing. Thanks for posting this !

This video rates among the most informative I’ve watched. To finally hear history told from a prospective other than the usual history book is very refreshing.
Since there is always (at least) 2 sides to every story, getting the other side is eye opening.

In August 2001, I realized a lifelong dream and visited the Little Bighorn battlefield and monument. I brought my wife and kids. We got an amazing tour from a park ranger who presented such historical details as he had available in a fascinating and very balanced way. It was one of the very best tours I've ever had in my life. I think the tour in this video was probably even better. Thank you so much for sharing this.

This man is right...It is all OUR history. Bravery is a virtue that can be acknowledged in anyone, even one's foes. Little Big Horn had many examples. I've been there in late June, the same time of year the battle was fought. The sadest point on the battlefield for me is the small number of stone markers where Miles Keough and his men met their fate. A band of brothers, many of them Irish, thousands of miles from their birthplace, dying for a country that had no love and little use for them, pawns of government polices rooted in greed and ignorance. But, they had taken the oath of allegiance. They were soldiers, no less warriors than those who fought them. They died together and they died bravely. It is ALL our history. Honor them, the warriors who fought them, honor the bravery.

I live in Billings, fifty some miles northwest of the battlefield. My distant cousin, 1st Sgt Michael Kenney, died on the hill downslope from Custer. Your interpretive guide is exemplary and shared many invaluable details/insights that only a Crow would know-thank you for sharing.

Such a good and interesting tour guide. I would like to ave him tell stories for hours. He seems so nice, and as a Native American, I bet people enjoyed listening to him. I am so glad the different tribes can press on unified now. So interesting. Thanks a lot.
