Being an older guy (also 6'2"), I ride a Shadow Aero VT750. It is comfortable and plenty enough power for my needs. You said it from the top AFFORDABLE full circle.

I’ve owned near every kind of bike old and new, many of my friends have shadows and my dad has rhode Honda’s since I was a kid, mostly old cb’s now goldwings. I’ve worked on all the Honda’s constantly, I have my coworker and my neighbors shadows in my garage now. I have several Harley’s and a victory I ride. My wife has a 07 883r. Never done anything but oil, plugs, brakes and belts, my 06 dyna has 89k miles and I’ve had zero issues. My old evo 100 needed a starter clutch once. I’ve had Vulcans and vstars that were way more dependable then the Honda’s and a few rockets that were not so good, mostly oil leaks a carb issues. Buy what you want but I prefer to ride not push. Ride Solid.

Love the 883. But the shadow reminds me of good ol HD Softail.
But what ever you love. As long as you ride. Not everyone can just splurge on a harley. As long as you are out there riding on two wheels.

I love watching your videos. I'm not especially into cruisers or Harleys but you make every bike seem fun and don't BS us like some people do. I'm in Norristown PA and might take a ride out your way some day. Ride safe!

I used to ride 20+ years ago and for various reasons got away from bikes. Now for various reasons (mostly because I'm single again) I'm getting back to bikes. I had to re-learn everything. My bike is an '88 Honda Shadow VT1100. It's really smooth and easy to ride and has been a great bike to re-learn on. I always recommend Hondas.

I’m buying my first bike. It’s a 2003 Honda Shadow 750 with only 5898 miles, and she’s cherry. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to start learning to ride!

Nice bike. Dollar for dollar I'd go with the Honda and with the money saved I'd buy some LEG protection.
As someone who works in a dealership you know there are new light weight materials that breath and protect well.
Just sayin.

I've owned both and I bought them both used for about the same price. Maintenance, although different, is just as easy and costs about the same. As far as I'm concerned, ride both and then decide. Apple and orange. The quality is the same. I'm 70 years old and rode my first Honda in 1964. I've owned several metric bikes since then and I also love my Sportster. No, I've never owned a big bike of any kind. Never wanted or needed one. I usually ride by myself and I don't care what anybody else thinks of my ride or my apparel.

Honda or Harley? If were to buy, I would get a Honda. If it was a gift, I would get the Harley, and sell it for a Yamaha.

Stopped by a friends house on my 2007 Shadow 750 Spirit.. Black. His cousin was there. He just bought a 1200 Sportster at over $13, 000.00 OTD and was bitching. His cousin was looking over my bike and looked up and asked " why didn't you buy a Harley " Really.... I mean REALLY ???? Harley imports parts to put bikes together, the plastic for my taillights comes for the U.S.

You can buy to Honda Shadows for the price of one Harley Sportster 1200 custom

I shamelessly like this channel because he just hops on the bike and gives us his impression of it. I don't care if he sells them. Every other channel now thinks their top gear.

I got a '15 Shadow for my first street bike. Chose it for the price and reliability. I have over 10, 000 miles on it. It's a good ride, for riding responsibly and staying within the speed limit. I've done many rides of about 100 to 400 miles in a day. Always 45 to 50 mpg. I upgraded to a Maverick seat, heavier wider handlebars and swept-back risers, mini floorboards, highway bars, large LED headlight, and a Memphis Shades windshield, all for more comfortable highway riding. I'm 6'2". The ergonomics aren't perfect for me, but it's good enough for day-long rides. The relatively light weight is easy to handle, like for example if the rear wheel starts to slide out. So I've never dropped it, knock on wood. Drawbacks: the light weight means I feel all uneven road surfaces in my lower back. Braking and maneuverability is reliably adequate, but not great. The tires have inner tubes; so any tire puncture can't simply be temporary plugged, but instead requires the wheel to come off and an inner tube replaced.

I have had 23 bikes. 5 ironheads, 5 shovelhead, some CBs, some KZ's, Triumph and Suzuki Intruder 700...i think that was an 1986 or 87 and a 1400 intruder.
The 700 was the very best I had. I bought it with 67, 000 miles and got a new battery, changed fluids and pipes..that thing ripped!!! I put another 10, 000 miles on it and sold. I have a ironhead hardtail...but wish I had that intruder!!! Truth be it told!
A lot of people making those VLXs and all metric bikes bobbers and it is good to see.
Harleys now are for the Hipsters and biker pimps!
Not kool anymore...probably never will be again.
